Beautiful piece! For me, part of it is enjoying desserts that are actually less sweet. I just returned from Germany where I had many desserts that satisfied my sweet craving without nearly as much sweetness as I’m used to: banana-sweetened chocolate pudding, a tangy cherry Kuchen, and some simple rhubarb compote with a bit of whipped cream.

Thank you so much, Martin! And ja—totally agree. There’s a whole other piece to be written just on the idea of balance in desserts and not oversweetening (Angela Pinkerton was big on this). I hadn’t realized German desserts could be that way! V good to know because I’m half German and love German holiday stuff especially. Just stalked you and can’t wait to try your Stollen recipe — that’s a top 5 food for me. :)
